Group Milestones and Initial Concepts

The deadline date for the project bible is Wednesday the 28th November.

We would ideally like our final idea within the group to be chosen within the next couple of days.

Friday 9th - Script written up and evaluated by group and teacher if possible
Saturday 17th - Most of the concept art (including moodboards, characters, environments, props and colour schemes) should be completed to a good standard with room for improvement to be made in the following days.
The storyboard should also be past completion at this date.
By Tuesday 20th the animatic should be completed (with remaining days left for improvement)
By Thursday 22nd the pre-visualisation should completed
By Monday 26th we should aim to have the Project Bible finished to a good standard. This leaves 2 remaining days for any improvements to be made.

Initial Concepts

Daniel Buchan - Initial concept
(Wide angle shot - Flat on side view)
My idea for this current project is to have an initial character running in a 2d or
3d format in silhouette form preparing to throw a spear, There will be no other
colours within this first part of the scene apart from the sun shining upon the
scene. There will be consistent blackouts throughout the initial spear throw
(like a Zoetrope) in tune with the music to add emphasis to the advert.
The spear starts morphing at mixed rates (varying on rhythm of music) into
sport like objects (and the occasional person), the background also changes
into different textures such as water, grass and concrete (all in silhouette
form) in sync and correlation with the objects that the spears morph in to.
(such as a Tennis ball would have grass as the background or a swimmer
would end up in a pool).
(the screen now blacks out rapidly and repeatedly numerous times
slowly dying down to the final scene.
(Music finishes with a light "snazzy" bang)
The logo now enters the advert and the music changes to a stereotypical
advert sound to show the ending and to help attract attention to the logo itself.
(Background remains black)

 Andrew Bartholomew
I imagine the following concept to be solely animated in 3D, although other methods (I.e. – live action or 2D could be suitable). I would like the animation to take on a cartoon style, in order to convey comedy and exaggeration within the piece.
The scene begins with a man sitting in his front room, slumped on the sofa in his vest and boxers with a monotone expression on his face. The room is being illuminated by the pale light of the television. Sports commentary can be heard from the television. The room begins to tremor/shake/rumble. The man glances down at the remote control vibrating on the arm rest of the sofa. A group of American footballers burst through the room screaming and knocking objects over. Two of them are tossing the ball to each other and proceed to sprint out of the room as they roar at one another. They are closely followed by galloping horses with jockeys, men playing football – small referees running into the front room with whistles. After the sporty crowd has left one man on a bicycle rides through the front room sounding the little bell on his handlebars. He administers a small nod of acknowledgement to the bewildered man sitting on the sofa, appearing amazed by what he has just witnessed. The scene fades out to black, and the 13 Strides logo appears.

 Nathan Lawrence - Initial Concept
My idea for the project is to show a timeline of technology and sport which will build up to the current day promoting SP Thirteen as the new standard technology for sport.
The animation begins focused in on a sports page in the newspaper, there’s a gust of wind which blows the newspaper leading the camera to an old football pitch where a match is taking place.
The Camera focuses in on the ball as it is kicked into the net, as the net ripples it transforms into a speaker grate on a radio and the camera zooms out to reveal this.
The camera pans round to show a track rolling out and athletes running on it the camera focuses on the track runners rotating round them and zooming out revealing they are on the TV.
A rugby ball fly’s past the camera shattering the TV, the camera follows the rugby ball as it passes through holographic rugby posts on a tablet device which flips round filling the scene with black at which point the SP Thirteen Logo will animate onto the screen.
The animation will be fast paced and entertaining and I hope to convey that the technology we use to interact with sport has changed and that SP Thirteen is the new way to interact with sport.

Stephen Crossley -   The film begins with a shot of an empty road cutting through a crowded damp forest. From left of frame a runner dashes into shot and runs off frame to the right.
A tracking shot from in front of the runner follows as he travels along the route, he appears cold as a faint cloud of air is seen as the runner exhales. He stops briefly to catch his breath and starts to shiver.
A bright burst of light glares in his face, he lifts his hands to block the light and tries to identify the source. His facial expression appears smug as a slow short zoom closes in and we cut to a symbol floating in the air above him. (SP13 symbol) He reaches to grab it and is pulled into the light which showers the entire frame in a white glare.
The film cuts to several different sports activities in several locations, in between each location the runner is transported in the blink of an eye and can be seen participating or spectating the events.
He is eventually thrown back onto the road and with a feeling of inspiration and determination, continues his run.
The camera tilts up to the sky where the logo returns centre of frame and the company name fades in underneath. Fading out the footage the logo remains on a black backdrop and using the ‘figure 8’ style of the company logo the letters SP and numbers 1 and 3 flicker across its face.

Concept:
Ext:
The main character of movie starts to run from left and he got javelin on his hand. He
keeps on running and he throws it. The camera keeps tracking him and there on the
floor he sees a football, camera zooms to football and cut back to character again
and he kicks it. And he still keeps running and in front of him is a pool and he dives
in pool and swims across it and climb back out. Then he starts to run again and
some motion trail follows him and changes to live action character. The whole shot
zooms out to reveal it’s actually played in mobile and again zooms out after a shot
pause to reveal that it is played on a laptop and zooms out even more to reveal its
on a desktop screen. Then the shot cuts to logo animation. The logo is separated to
different layers in depth according to letters in it. So, “S” “P” “1” “3” will be in different
depth in 3d and the camera move shows the difference in depth and it comes to front
to show the final logo.
Production Idea:
The character modelling, texturing, rigging and animation will be done on Autodesk
Maya and the advanced particle trail and water simulation will be done in Side
Effects Houdini. The lighting might be done in both Autodesk Maya and Side Effects
Houdini. Compositing will be done in Foundry’s Nuke.
